Finding Queer Disability

Love Intersections | 2018 | 6:09 min

This film explores the intersection of queerness and disability, looking at the ways that culture and language are also part and parcel to many other communities, including the Autistic community and the Deaf community. This film was created by Love Intersections, a media arts collective of queer artists of colour in Vancouver.

Less Lethal Fetishes

Thirza Cuthand | 2019 | 9:30 min

Not a sex video, maybe a sexy video? About a latent gas mask fetish, but maybe actually about a certain art world tear gas controversy the filmmaker was involved in? But also about Chemical Valley in Southern Ontario? But with like a dick and tits and vag and gas masks and smokebombs, lots of smoke bombs. A pretty film about weird shit.

Wash Day

Kourtney Jackson | 2020 | 9:52 min

As they get ready for the day, three young Black women discuss the public perception of their Blackness in relation to their cultivation of a strong sense of self. Wash Day is an intimate exploration into how private, domestic acts such as washing your hair or putting on makeup become a significant re-acquaintance with the body, before and after navigating the politics of one's outwardly appearance.

I’m a fag 4 u (Owen Pallett Remix)

Vivek Shraya | 2021 | 5:25 min

Inspired by the cinematography of "Truth or Dare" and "Paris is Burning," this video is an homage to late 80s/early 90s gay culture and aesthetic. Shot in 16mm, it features co-director Vivek Shraya and two other queer dancers (Rodney Diverlus and Phil Villeneuve) reclaiming streets and sidewalks, common sites of homophobic violence, and the word "fag." Also a creative response to the loss of queer spaces during the pandemic, we hope that this video will remind queer viewers that they aren’t alone, even when we can only connect virtually, and that our queerness–and faggotry–is beautiful and alive.

Ever Wanting (for Margaret Chung)

Tina Takemoto | 2021 | 6:20 min

Inspired by San Francisco’s first Chinese American female physician, this film envisions the euphoria and despair of Margaret Chung and her insatiable desire for women and celebrity through her forays into drugs, sapphic surgeries, and queer flights of fancy.

Two Sons and a River of Blood

Amber Bemak and Angelo Madsen Minax | 2020 | 10:31 min

A queer woman is pregnant. The self-made family unit of two dykes and a trans man imagine a kind of erotic magic that will allow for procreation based solely on desire. Together they enact a public sex ritual to symbolize their hopefulness for multiplicity, acknowledging their cyborg bodies as technological interventions. When the queer woman miscarries her child, the three begin to build their own mythic understanding of where bodies live when they are not inside us. They create a story to trace movement of the non-body, from a hole, to a river, to a room. Images of an imaginary white room, an ikea-esque torture chamber of stillness, haunt them. As a parallel emerges between the pregnant body and the trans body, the techno-sex act becomes the key and a pyramid becomes the portal to access this other world of non-bodied existence.

Bellydance Vogue

Hadi Moussally | 2020 | 4:55 min

"My birthday was on the 3rd of April 2020, and for the first time, I celebrated it all by myself. But even if I was alone, I decided to celebrate it as if it’s the last one" The film was made during quarantine, using archive films from the 80-90s and using VHS recorder app.

Indigenous Luvvv (Hanky Code: The Movie)

Demian DinéYazhi’ | 2015 | 4:41 min

A short film about cruising as an Indigenous Queer.

PAISA

Dorian Wood and Graham Kolbeins | 2019 | 8:00 min

PAISA is an immersive fever dream that celebrates the beauty of queer brown sensuality, body positivity and individuality. Says Dorian – "...I wanted to create a permanent reminder for us queer, trans and non-binary folks of color that our beauty stretches within and far beyond our times, in either direction…sex positivity grounded in mindfulness and consent. We are wiser than this world gives us credit for. We are powerful and plentiful. We are forever."

Fluid Bound

Rob Fatal | 2021 | 7:39 min

An experimental gender fluid, mestize-Indigenous film that uses text, sound design, crude animation, and bondage rope to meditate on the complex, generations-old relationships and battles between our skin and our souls.

JIZZ ENVY

James Diamond | 2014 | 1:59 min

An adult oriented mock fairy tale where (“female”) ejaculation combined with true love brings a happy ending to a trans-male narrative.
