PERFORMANCE
Gender Shimmering
A backdrop of photos and videos from Cuthand's life plays while a recording of Theo reading
parts of his diaries over the years which had forecast his eventual decision to transition to
male. While the video plays he drips hot wax on his nude body and uses a knife to scrape it off,
in between soothing his body with oils. He finishes by writing on his body in gender affirming
terms with a marker.
